Losses in main gas pipelines in Azerbaijan reduced by more than 20%

Last year, Azerbaijan recorded 47.3 million cubic meters of losses in its main gas pipelines, which is a 20.9% decrease compared to the previous year, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.

Gas losses across the country’s pipelines amounted to 59.8 million cubic meters in 2023.

Note that 40,348.3 million cubic meters of gas were transported through Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines last year, showing a 2.7% increase compared to the previous year.

56.6% of this volume was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline, which exports gas from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field. During the reporting period, 22,851.9 million cubic meters of gas were transmitted through this pipeline, reflecting a 4.3% increase.
